Green & Renewable

Going Green

Supplying the world with energy comes with a big responsibility to the planet. We understand that, so that’s why we keep sustainability and renewability at the forefront of everything we do. We don’t just say that. We can prove it.

We’re one of the leaders when it comes to green energy. We’re constantly working to push the boundaries of zero-carbon energy sources like hydroelectricity, biomass, bio-gas, wind and solar power.

We’re also passionate about protecting biodiversity. For example, we run programs to look after plant and wildlife around the dams and reservoirs of Brazil. Plus, we’ve set limits on the amount of seawater used by power plants in Thailand to protect sea life, and built bee and bat boxes in the grounds of University Hospital of North Durham.

Benefiting the UK

We’ve been fitting council buildings with cutting-edge photovoltaic panels. We even helped make the 2012 Olympics the greenest ever by heating London’s Olympic Park with sustainable woodchip. Compared with traditional energy methods, we reduced CO2 emissions by 11,000 tonnes yearly in the process.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Our plans to be greener are getting bigger and better; you can be rest assured that we aren’t doing the planet a disservice to give you great service.

100% Renewable Electricity

Supplying energy comes with a big responsibility to the planet. That’s why we keep sustainability and renewable energy sources at the forefront of everything we do.

We don’t just say that. We can prove it. Our tariffs use 100% renewable electricity. That’s right, all of the electricity on our tariffs is generated from renewable sources.
