How it works

As an ENGIE Control customer you will receive a PassivLiving HEAT heating control system, installed by one of our expert installers, providing complete control to heat your home efficiently and effectively. You can control your heating and hot water based on your lifestyle.


Your smart heating control system works with networked sensors giving you control of your home heating remotely. The system considers a number of factors, including external weather conditions and boiler performance, to make sure your home is heated to suit your needs. All you need to do is set how warm you want your home to be at what time and the system will do everything else for you, using as little energy as possible.

Be in control

Coming home early? No problem, tell your smart heating control system via the app that you’re on your way, so you no longer come home to a cold house. Going away for the weekend and forgot to turn the heating off? Use your app so you’re not wasting energy heating an empty home.


Being an ENGIE Control customer removes the need to use complicated timers and allows you to interact with your heating remotely at the touch of a button.

Am I eligible for the PassivLiving HEAT smart thermostat?


 I have a working broadband router with a spare Ethernet port.

  • PassivLiving HEAT requires internet connectivity to work and needs to plug in to your router.


I have a device that can access the internet – like a PC, laptop or tablet.

  • PassivLiving HEAT requires a device with internet connectivity to control and set up.


I know if I have a Combi or System Boiler.

  • We need to know what type of boiler you’re using so we fit the correct system.


I have a Gas, Oil or LPG Boiler.

  • PassivLiving HEAT doesn’t work with electric storage heaters or heat pumps.


I have single-zone heating.

  • PassivLiving HEAT does not work with multi-zone heating (more than one heating thermostat).


I will be a dual fuel customer on the ENGIE Control tariff.

  • PassivLiving HEAT is only available to dual fuel customers (electricity & gas) on the ENGIE Control tariff.

Principal Terms For ENGIE Control tariff

If you’re currently on a fixed term tariff that’s due to end in the next 12 months, we’ve used your current prices and the prices you would most likely be transferred onto when your current tariff ends. This is to work out your personal projection with your current supplier and provide you with the savings/additional cost message.

We have based your personal quote on information you’ve provided to us. If we become aware this is not accurate, we will advise you of the correct prices in writing.


Key facts relating to your tariff (Principal Terms ENGIE Control)

To receive your free device you will need to be a dual fuel customer with us and to meet our eligibility criteria.

The device is guaranteed for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of installation.

Your prices are fixed for the duration of the Contract which ends 30th April 2020.

You confirm that you have the necessary authority to agree to this legally binding contract.

This tariff is not available for prepayment or nonstandard meter types.


Around 49 days before the end of the fixed duration, we will contact you with details of the ENGIE Rollover tariff, which is a variable tariff for which the initial price will be equal to the cheapest relevant ENGIE tariff available. You will be moved automatically onto this tariff at the end of your fixed duration term, unless you choose a different tariff at this time

An Exit Fee of £80.00 per fuel inclusive of VAT applies should you change supplier or transfer to another ENGIE tariff prior to the last 49 days of the contract.​

As you are paying by fixed monthly direct debit, your payment amount will be based on your estimated energy usage for the next 12 months, your estimated annual usage is divided by 12 to provide your direct debit. We will review your account twice a year and if your payment needs to change due to your gas and electric usage, we will give you at least 10 working days’ notice. Under the direct debit scheme, you are covered under the Direct Debit Guarantee.


You will receive your bills every 3 months.

You will receive a £15.75 discount per year (inclusive of VAT) for taking paperless billing, to get this you will need to manage your account online.

You will receive a discount for having both your electricity and gas with us. If you fail to make a payment when it’s due, we can make changes to your payment method and/or tariff, which may result in your prices increasing. If you agree to pay by direct debit, but fail to do so, we may change your payment method. If we do this you will stay on the same tariff, but your unit rates will increase. All charges for kWh are shown inclusive of VAT.

If there are cheaper tariffs available you will be notified within the “Could you pay less” section on your bill.


Please provide meter readings to us quaterly on or around the date that your supply started with us. This allows us to make sure you always have the most up to date bills and, if paying by Direct Debit, that your monthly payments are in line with your usage.

Your contract with us is continuous, which means it will only end when you switch supplier, if we choose to end it, or if you agree a new contract with us.


If you do not pay ENGIE, we may seek to install a prepayment meter. If we install a prepayment meter, we will transfer you onto an appropriate prepayment tariff. You would then be required to pay for your energy in advance. Should we not be able to install a prepayment meter, including if you prevent us from doing so, we may seek to disconnect your supply.
